Partners in the Fight

When one man dreams, it is just a dream, but when we all dream together, it is the beginning of a new reality.

Dom Helder Camara

Welcome Fighter!

No prizes for guessing what's been on the forefront of my mind.

As most of you are probably aware, Francesca Trinity Smith was born one week ago (on April 6th).  She arrived two weeks early, which was a bit of a concern, yet  both mother and child are in good health. Most importantly, as you can see from the pic on the right, she does look like me!

Appropriately,we are also in Eastertide - the best time of year for celebrating new life and fresh beginnings.

Easter, of course,  is not just about babies, but about Christ and about new life for the cosmos. Indeed, the truth of Easter is the very centre of the Christian faith, for, as my friend, Bishop Riah Abu El-Assal  said in his most recent letter to his supporters:

If Christ is not risen

Does she look like me?
  • THEN our struggle for freedom, against evil and all that makes for death, is also in vain.
  • THEN we wait in vain for that dawn when justice runs like water, truth and good prevail.
  • THEN peace becomes a day-dream and people’s lives become torn to pieces.
  • THEN the broken-hearted will wait in vain for healing.
  • THEN the prisoners and captives wait in vain to be released.

But Christ IS RISEN!  He is RISEN INDEED! And so we do not lose hope, but continue to battle on, believing in the new world is coming.

What's news on ?

Lots of exciting things to report:
  • A new video about our brother Morde Vanunu that includes fascinating 3D animations of the Dimona Nuclear reactor and how it works.  The report is given in Hebrew but has subtitles. Click here.

  • Another startling video of a speech given by Israeli human rights activist, Nurit Peled - winner of the Sakharov prize for Freedom of Speech - launching the Brussels Tribunal on Palestine. Click here.

  • I wrote an enthusiastic article about my file recovery software, after being elated that I was able to recover my accidentally-erased video interview of the former President of Iran. Click here.

  • And just in case you missed that video interview of Mr Khatami, you'll find it (along with the audio interview and all my other interviews) here.

  • And on the forum Alfamax has offered much wisdom on the subject of government handouts, and whether our governments' current generosity is creating a legacy of pain for our children. Click here
And speaking of the forum , I hate to say it, but there have been virtual tumbleweeds rolling their way through some of the forum's corridors lately. Do us all a favour and share your wisdom!

Virtual Pulpit: Choosing the Path of Most Resistance

Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it; and he sat on it.Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields. Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting,

“Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord
Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

The passage above is the 'action section' of the story of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem - an event we celebrate each year on the Sunday before Easter.

Father Dave

I refer to it as the 'action section' because most of the verses in the larger passage (Mark 11:1-11) revolve around the preparations that were made by Jesus and His disciples to allow this 'triumphal entry' to take place - all of which point to the fact that the event was very deliberately staged.

This got me thinking about why Jesus would bother to stage such an event when he knew it would get Him into trouble with the authorities?   You can read my thoughts on this subject here, or click the play button below to have me preach them at you!

Video of the Week: An interview with Alison Weir

One of the big issues in the Israel/Palestine conflict is that of media coverage.

Alison Weir was editor of a San Fransisco newspaper who (though she was neither Palestinian nor Jewish) decided to look into the way the media covered the issues.

Her discoveries astounded her., and she ended up quitting her job and founding ifamericansknew.organ organization dedicated to quantifying the ways in which the American media was misinforming the public about the conflict.

In this video Ms. Weir explains her group's methodology and shares her key findings.

Recommended Webmaster Resource: Exit Splash
(click on Fighting Father Todd to get the full story)

I'm, adding a new column today that I hope will become a regular monthly feature. It's the Recommended  Webmaster's Resource', and it's for all you budding Internet gurus and for anyone who is trying to make the most of their online work.

This one comes with a video introduction from Todd Gross.  He's not really a Fighting Father yet, but I have high hopes.

The product he's recommending is Exit Splash - a new script that harnesses the exit traffic from your website/s.  It's the brainchild of scripting genius Dave Guindon, and it officially launches on April 21.  Click here to check out Exit Splash.

Before I let you go today, I must pass on to you a request from our dear brother, Fighting Father Labib - parish priest of Thomas More church in San Fransisco and founder of

Father Labib is appealing to the Pope to travel to Gaza, and he's asking us all to join him in the appeal. How can you help?

  1. Labib has started an online petition that you can sign (and get your friends to sign)
  2. He's asking you to submit your own YouTube video that can be added to the appeal.

Details on how to do the video and plenty of examples can be found on the Al-Bushra wesbite, and you DON'T have to be Catholic to make a personal appeal to the Pope. I'm not and I'm working on mine

May the Lord bless and strengthen you for the work to which you have been called.

Yours in the Good Fight,
