 The View from my Corner
 Hi guys,

Well, it's been another busy month for me. Our church is grooving, our bush camp is raging, and the fight club is in full swing (pardon the pun).

Rather than give a monologue this month, allow me to share with you some of my highlights from my last few weeks in point form. I'll give you two from each of my main work areas - the church, the fight club, the campsite and the website:

  • Dulwich Hill's own Tracey Sutherland was commissioned as a chaplain to the Army Reserves, in a service held last Sunday at Holy Trinity. It's a big step for someone who was once one of our most accomplished wrestlers!

  • Our beloved Morna opened her art exhibition at my favourite local club, Newtown RSL. Yes, this is the same grandmotherly figure who shows up in my book. Even a tough life and time in prison has done nothing to dampen her creativity. Congratulations Morna! Thank you @Newtown!

Fight Club

  • The entire Pakistani Pankration team arrived in Sydney to train under the tutelage of myself and the irrepressible Kon Pappy. Training now begins to get these boys ready for the Asian games in September.

  • Our own Louis Burgess lived to tell the tale of travelling to the Central Coast for a boxing match where, after he knocked out his opponent in the second round, nobody cheered. It turned out that he had decked the local champ. He got changed very quickly and drove quietly away.

  • I survived the trip from Binacrombi back to Sydney, hauling the old ute all the way. That's me looking relieved alongside Tony the mechanic. Click the pic
    for a better view.
I made it back in one piece!
  • Keeta the Binacrombi dog had puppies, but then tragically died in her sleep only a week later. Richie is caring for the pups, but if any of you would like one of these little guys, let me know. Click the pic and see if you can resist them.
Please adopt a puppy

Well, I could go on but I won't. I suppose it's no wonder that I haven't had time to see the new Star Wars movie yet. All in good time.

May the Lord bless and keep you until next we meet.

Your brother in the Good Fight,

P.S. Thank you to all who have contacted me in the last month with your suggestions for the future of Further feedback would still be very much appreciated. And thank you to those who have written in asking me to pass on words of support and encouragement to our brother Ray Williams. I have tried to honour all requests. You'll read more about Ray below.

 What's On
Christians v Lions XX is coming!

Yes, it's on again - bigger and better than ever! Our twentieth Fight Night is scheduled for July 16th at the Petersham RSL club.

One of the highlights of the night will be the boxing debut of Shayne the Iceman Yow. Shayne has a strong background in the Martial Arts, but this will be his first venture into ring-fighting. Click the pic for a closer look at this great champion of the future.

Mind you, Shayne is also a valued member of our Youth Centre team, and my chief assistant in my our online work. Shayne was indeed recently appointed as manager of our affiliate program. He's a man of many talents, and I hope you'll come and support him on July 16.

I'll be performing too of course, and I'm intending once again to take on a number of opponents for one round each. There will be an 'I Thumped Father Dave' trophy awarded at the end of the night to the person who did me the most damage.

If you're interested in joining the queue of people who would like to take a swing at me on the night, you'll find the application and waiver form here. Preference will be given to those who offer large donations to our Youth Centre in return for the privilege of beating me up.

 For Your Prayers

The Truth about Ray Williams

I think it's about time that the truth came out. I've been holding back my revelations for a while now, but something needs to be said.

Ray Williams is one of the great men of this generation I believe, and now he's doing time in order to salve the public ire over the collapse of his company, HIH.

Get my angle on the saga here.

What I'm offering you today is part one of what will be a four-part retelling of the tragedy. It's a long and twisted tale, and providing the courts don't shut me down before I finish it, you'll get the whole feed over the next few weeks.

I only hope that I don't upset Ray too much by printing this, as some of it is rather personal. Even so, something needs to be said! Click here.

 Sermon of the Month

Didn't Dorothy Sayers sum it all up for us a generation ago when she said that for most of us the doctrine of the Trinity was, ‘The Father incomprehensible, the Son incomprehensible, and the whole thing incomprehensible’?

Yes friends, Trinity Sunday has come around again, and this year I had the privilege of spending my Trinity Sunday as guest preacher at St Albans Epping. The audience and the location was different, but the sermon, like the doctrine, remained unshakeably the same. Click here.

 Sites of the Month

Once again there are no shortage of great sites and articles to recommend to you this month.  Here's six of the best that I've found:

Sites that help you work:

  • NVU

NVU is a top class web authoring system, compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux, AND IT'S COMPLETELY FREE! This is a package that rivals Frontpage and Dreamweaver in its complexity, but costs you nothing! Now you've got no excuse for not starting your own web page. Click here.

  • FixMyEbooks

When I came across this wonderful little program, I liked it so much that I created a special page for it. If you've been struggling to read your favourite eBooks ever since the arrival of Windows XP Service Pack 2, this is by far the simplest way to solve the problem. Click here.

Sites that help you pray:

  • If Americans Knew

This is a really brilliant site that outlines what every American should know about the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Even if you're not American, this site is definately worth a look. Click here.

  • Nick Cave on Mark

Nick Cave was performing back in the days when I was a punk rocker,
and the man is still on the cutting edge. I was fascinated to find that he's now written an introduction to the Gospel of Mark! Click here, and let me know your thoughts on this one.
RSS Feeds:

Note that to read these live feeds properly, you need an RSS reader, such as the one get free as a part of the Father Dave Notifier. Click here to get yours. Just download the file, double-click it, and follow the instructions.

And remember, if you're looking for more great sites, check out my Links Page at where I post all my favourites. The above links will be added there shortly if they're not up there already.
