one man dreams, it is just a dream, but when we all dream together, it
is the beginning of a new reality.

It's Father Dave with you again - back from holidays and back in the
thick of things.
Indeed, while our family enjoyed some lovely holiday time in January I
hit the ground running when I returned. Our plane
landed back in Sydney at 3pm and I was in the ring for our Australia Day Box-a-Thon
by 6pm, having cleaned up the mess created by the lads who had
vandalised our Youth Centre while I had been away.
Even so, the box-a-thon was a great success and I want to thank each of
you who sent me emails and text messages of support, and most
especially those who sent donations to help support the work of Action
I completed the 50 rounds of boxing and we raised around $1500.
My hands and feet were throbbing for the next couple of days
but, frankly, it was the easiest money I've ever raised, and I do plan
to do another box-a-thon same time next year if not before. Next time I
may attempt twice as many rounds!
course the beauty of the event was not just the funds raised but the
way it brought together people in the community to support the event,
and most obviously the way some of our most prominent boxers showed up
to give their support. You'll find some pics of those
great fighters directly below, along with the rather impromptu
video interview that I recorded on the night (a little further down the
In truth I have great faith in the ability of fighters to combat
poverty and injustice. Or perhaps it would be more accurate
to say that I believe you can't really make a difference in this world
unless you are a fighter.
Fighters know the meaning of hard work and persistence, and, most
importantly, they know how to get up again and keep battling after
they've been knocked down.
So let me thank again all the fighters
who have stood with me in our recent battles and encourage you to brace
yourself for the rounds that lie ahead. For there is no
shortage of misery and corruption going on around us at the moment, and
God knows we are all needed in the Good
Fight. And we'll need all the energy we can
muster, along with wisdom, patience and plenty of Grace from above.

Virtual Pulpit: Jesus turned
the water into Beer!
The title for this sermon actually came to me after I had completed it,
so you won't actually find many references to beer in the sermon.
Even so, it did occur to me that if Jesus had performed this
miracle today he probably would have been delivering kegs of beer
rather than vats of wine.
Either way, the real question though is surely what on earth Jesus was
doing, using His mysterious powers to produce massive amounts of
alcohol in any form! Don't we normally think of
Jesus as someone who disapproves of excessive alcohol consumption?
You'll have to make
up your own mind on this, but you'll get my thoughts by hitting the
play button below. Alternatively you can find the written version of
this sermon here.
OK fighter, it's time for me to let you go so that you can get back to
fighting the Good Fight
in your corner of the great ring, for indeed there is no shortage of
chaos and pain in our world at the moment.
find myself getting increasingly concerned about what is going on in
Iran right now, and even more concerned about the reaction of the
Western media. There is a great deal of macho posturing going
in the Middle East at the moment - Israel with Lebanon and Syria, the
US with Yemen as well as Iran - and all of us need to be
and doing what we can to see that it doesn't boil over into more
I won't say more about these matters here, but if

spiritual significance, please join us on the forum.
