Holy Trinity School of Martial Arts is a Christian martial arts school. This does not mean that you have to be a committed Christian in order to train here, but you will be expected to support and uphold the values of the school so long as you are training with us. Your opportunities to progress here will also, in part, be dependant upon your development in these areas.
In particular this school upholds the following four virtues:
Courage
Courage is the ability to keep going under pressure. It means keeping on trying even when the odds are stacked against you. It means not allowing yourself to be overwhelmed by pressure or even pain. It means getting in and having a go even when you feel like dropping out.
"We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed." (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)
Integrity
Integrity means being straight with people. It means being honest about who you are and what your intentions are. It means being satisfied with yourself so that you can form authentic relationships with others. It means keeping to your word.
"Let your Yes be Yes and your No be No. Anything more than this comes from the evil one." (Matthew 5:37)
Self-Discipline
Self-discipline means being in control of yourself. It means being able to say no to your impulses, desires and even needs when necessary. It means being able to choose when to strike out and when not to strike out.
"God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:7)
Teamwork
Within the training environment working together as a team is essential to everything we do. When we train, we train as a team. When we compete, we compete as a team. The success of the individual member is a success for the whole team.
"If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honoured, all rejoice together." (1 Corinthians 12:26)
